THEME: 

            Highlights the Importance of Mother tongue

LEARNING OUTCOME:  

Ø To comprehend the lesson content

Ø To develop LSRW skills.

Ø To learn how patriotism also means love for one’s language and other aspects of culture.

INTRODUTION:

           The teacher introduces the lesson,`The last lesson’ by Alphonse Daudet.

           In order to motivate the students,teacher asks some questions based on the lesson.

1)Have you heard about Franco-Prussian war?

2)Do you like your Mother Tongue? Give reason.

CONTENT:

       Alphonse Daudet(1840-1897) was a French novelist and short story writer.The last lesson is set in the days of the Franco-Prussian War(1870-1871)in which France was defeated by Prussia led by Bismarck.Prussia consisted of what now are the nations of Germany,Poland and parts of Austria.In this story,the French districts of Alsace and Lorraine have passed into Prussian hands.During that war,the people of France were denied to learn French.Little Franz,a student saw the villagers attending the class.They paid tribute to the teacher M.Hamel’s 40 years service. M.Hamel praised the French language and taught it.He finished his last lesson and wrote ``Vive la France’’

 

TEACHER ACTIVITY:

           Teacher reads the lesson and explains clearly to the students. She highlights the importance of new words and its meanings. She reads the lesson with proper stress,pause and intonation.She gives mind map and consolidation to the students.

CONSOLIDATION:

Ø Districts of France were taken over by the Prussians during Franco-Prussian war.

Ø French were compelled to learn German language

Ø M.Hamel, the French teacher taught  his last lesson to his students.

Ø Little franz, was a student saw the villagers attending the class.

Ø Atlast,M.Hamel wrote `Vive la France’.(Long Live France)

STUDENT ACTIVITY:

Ø Students listen the content of the lesson and understand the concept..

Ø They know the meaning of the new words.

Ø The teacher asks the students to  answer the questions

REINFORCEMENT:

                    Teacher shows some videos and present some slides based on the lesson to reinforce the students.

EVALUATION:

                    Teacher evaluates the students to check their understanding capability.Some of the questions are:

Ø What kind of news was usually put up on the bulletin board?

Ø What was the usual scene when school began everyday?

Ø How many years had M.Hamel been in the village?

SLOW LEARNERS ACTIVITY:

                    Teacher identifies the slow learners and gives special coaching to them to score more marks.She gives the important questions from the lesson and asks them to read it.

REMEDIAL MEASURES:

                    Learners who find difficult to read and write and asks them to read better with proper understanding.

FOLLOW UP:

Teacher gives the worksheet on synonyms and antonyms to the students and asks them to mark the correct answer.
